Five Daily Habits for Optimal Brain Health

Every day, patients walk into my office complaining about unshakeable brain fog.

Misplacing their keys for the third time this week…

Being unable to focus at work…

Most people experience brain fog and chronic fatigue at some point in their lives….

Which is why today, I’m sharing five daily habits that provide me with razor-sharp focus and crystal clear thinking all day long.

Since making these five things a staple in my days, I’m yet to experience brain fog, mood swings, chronic fatigue, or have difficulty focusing.

Brain Booster #1: Walk Every Day

Walking releases endorphins, which floods your body with natural “happiness” hormones. This makes walking a fantastic way to keep the blood flowing and clear your mind.

It goes beyond feeling good too, as research shows that regular walking also drastically improves cognitive performance.

Legendary Silicon Valley entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg are known for loving their “walking meetings,” where they take walks around their campus with staff members.

These tech gurus understand the cognitive improvements that come from regular walking, which is why they take full advantage of this easy, low-intensity brain booster.

Brain Booster #2: Start Your Day with Water

We should all be drinking plenty of water throughout the day, but we’re often the most dehydrated in the morning.

As we sweat and breathe overnight, we lose water and wake up feeling dehydrated. That’s why I begin my day with a large glass of water every single morning, and suggest that my patients do the same.

If you have a hard time remembering to hydrate regularly, you can fill up a water bottle at night, and place it on your nightstand so it’s the first thing you see when you wake up.

Brain Booster #3: Eat Plenty of Fruits and Vegetables

When you eat fruits and vegetables throughout the day, you consume brain-fueling carbohydrates like glucose. You also flood your body with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Many vitamins and minerals play a role in cognitive health, and consuming a wide variety of fruits and vegetables is the safest way to ensure you’re getting adequate amounts of exactly what you need.

If you need some suggestions to get you started, I recommend snacking on leafy greens, berries, and baby carrots. Aim for a spectrum of colors to ensure you’re getting a full variety of nutrients.

Most of us think of our immune system as our body’s way of protecting itself against bacteria, illness, and toxins.

And while this is true, it can also turn against you.

Our bodies are constantly under attack from toxic pollution, chemicals in our food, and bacteria.

This constant assault can cause our immune system to kick into overdrive.

When this happens, your immune system can begin to attack healthy tissue in your joints and brain, causing massive brain fog.
